Reasons to Come for Counselling

Going to Counselling can be a very intimidating thought. Many people get great benefit of sitting down with someone who has their complete attention and having them hear what is bothering them. This part of counselling alone, can be a tremendous relief. There is much more to benefit from when you have a professional who can help you explore different ways of looking at your problem and then ways of moving in a more positive direction. I am here to help you discover your own resources that are within you and help you apply them to your life.

Below is a partial list of issues you may be struggling with and may give you an idea of areas in which counselling may benefit you.

  • Life transitions ie: adolescence to adulthood, middle age adjustment or retirement.
  • Grief: the loss of a loved one or adjusting to a major change.
  • Depression: This can range from a minor feeling of chronic unhappiness to an inability to  function and suicidal thoughts and plans.
  • Anxiety: various anxiety disorders including panic, chronic anxiety and OCD.
  • Addictions
  • Sleep disorders
  • Family dysfunction
  • Couple distress
  • Children’s behaviour issues
  • History of physical or sexual abuse
  • Trauma due to participating in or being a victim of violence
  • Trauma due to life threatening experiences
  • Trauma due to neglect
